Capital One Data Breach Exposes Personal Information of over 100 Million Consumers

A hacker gained access to the personal information of over 100 million Capital One customers earlier this year. The compromised information includes 140,000 social security numbers and 80,000 bank account numbers.

If you are a Capital One customer or have applied for a Capital One account, your personal information may have been exposed in the recently uncovered data breach. Your personal information may have been included in the Capital One data breach even if you are not currently a Capital One customer or if you were not approved for a Capital One account.

Your personal information is one of your most valuable possessions as a consumer. Banks and credit card companies, such as Capital One, owe you a duty to properly safeguard your information.

Kelly Guzzo, together with Consumer Litigation Associates and the Law Offices of Charles B. Molster III, have filed a class action lawsuit against Capital One challenging its lackadaisical approach to securing consumer data. If you believe that you may have been the victim of the Capital One data breach, please contact us immediately to discuss your potential claims.

To protect yourself from identify theft, you may periodically check your credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com to ensure that the items on your credit report belong to you. Checking your report regularly will also help you to identify any other mistakes in your credit report.
