Kelly Guzzo partner Andrew Guzzo, who spearheads the firm’s predatory lending practice, was recently honored with the 2019 Rising Star Award by the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC).
This prestigious award is presented annually to attorneys who have made major contributions to the field of consumer law early in their legal career (to be eligible for the award, an attorney must have practiced law for fewer than 16 years). Andrew was one of just four attorneys nationwide to receive the 2019 Rising Star Award, which was presented at the Consumer Rights Litigation Conference held on November 16 in Boston, MA.
“What Andrew is really known for is his fierce determination to take on internet lending (practices) that result in lenders not having to pay attention to usury laws,” noted NCLC Partners Council member Beth Terrell in presenting the award. “He not only is brilliant and strategic, he’s fearless…having him on your team means you’re going to have someone who’s not only going to go the extra distance, but about 10 feet more to make sure everyone involved in ripping off consumers is held accountable.”
NCLC is a consumer rights organization that fights for low-income families and vulnerable consumers across the nation. With roots that trace to President Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty, the organization recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.
